Afghan Women
Women Against Violence WAV was established in 1992 by a group of Arab women professionals and activists in Israel who were alarmed by the lack of public services for the rising number of abused Arab women turning to the ISRAELI government for help. WAV seeks to address the problem of domestic violence and the paucity of support services for abused Arab women in Israel. We established the first full-service Arabic crisis hotline in Israel (the second Arabic language hotline in the country!), and Israel's first shelters and halfway-houses for Arab women and girls.
