The Quran button was updated for clarity. The Edit tools which appear below the edit box were also updated to include these 3 new tools.

  • An extension was installed to enable linking of images, i.e. you can now insert an image in a page and link that image to an article such that when a user clicks on the image, they are taken to that article. Read how to use this feature.

  • Site root redirects have been improved for faster speed. WikiIslam.com redirects to the main page instantly now as compared to the 1 or 2 second delay that was experienced before. Temporary redirects were added so that most of the old links used in the published paper (see below) would work.
4/23/07
  • Site email is enabled. This means users can email each other and they'll be emailed when their watched articles and Talk pages change.
  • Göran Larsson presented a paper on WikiIslam at a conference in Sweden (abstract | PDF, full version)
4/17/07
  • A new template is being made to help former Muslims create their own testimonies of leaving Islam
4/11/07
  • We've been visited by spamming bots recently. Anti-spam captcha's have been installed in order to prevent account creation by bots. This just means that in order to create an account, a user will have to compute some simple math, e.g. give an answer to: Whats 22 + 3? A human can do this sum but a bot can't. These spam protections are an inconvenience to human users, but some way of distinguishing between humans and bots is necessary due to the abundance of malicious software bots on the web.
4/4/07
  • WikiIslam was inaccessible from 3/20 to 4/4 (about 2 weeks) basically due to security problems in the server - Read more. We are back now
  • When we came back, we upgraded to the latest Mediawiki software which will enable some extra features
  • We will be moving to a faster server soon
  • Uploads are currently disabled while we make security checks. Image thumbnailing is not working right now, we're troubleshooting this.
